About Me
Hi, my name is Julie. I’ve been caring for dogs since I moved to Peaks Island, Maine in 1988. Over the years, I’ve walked, boarded, fostered, and rescued hundreds of dogs, including through my own 501(c)(3) rescue.
After moving to San Francisco, I rebuilt my dog-walking business, and in 2011 I sold it to become a full-time photographer. When the pandemic hit and most of my photography work disappeared, I returned to dog care and opened another rescue, saving 57 dogs in the first year of COVID alone (and many more after).
In 2022, I moved back to Peaks Island and am happily resuming my dog-walking and boarding business.
A few things about me…
• You’ll rarely find me without a dog.
• I’ve never been bitten.
• I love photographing dogs and will absolutely take an unreasonable number of pictures of yours while they’re with me.
• The dogs I care for become family to me, and so do their owners.
• I understand dog behavior better than human behavior after decades of walking, fostering, rescuing, and studying behavior analysis while working alongside several force-free trainers.
• I believe deeply in positive reinforcement.
• Watching dogs frolic on the beach, in the park, on a trail, or relaxing in my home genuinely brings me joy.
• I adore the soft, downy fur behind a dog’s ears.
• My beloved Otis was with me for 15 years and remains with me in memory, heart, and photos. Now Arrow and Willa fill my life (and camera roll) with just as much love.
• I’ve been caring for dogs for over 30 years—I started young!
• Your dog will receive exercise, affection, and plenty of love in my care. I treat your dog like my own.
